Frequently Asked Questions

Endometriosis (pronounced en- doh – mee – tree – oh – sis) is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. Each month these cells react in the same way to those in the womb, building up and then breaking down and bleeding. Unlike the cells in the womb that leave the body as a period, this blood has no way to escape. In the UK, around 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth are currently living with the condition, regardless of race or ethnicity. Endometriosis can affect you from puberty to menopause, although the impact may be felt for life. Endometriosis can have a significant impact on a person’s life in a number of ways, including: Chronic pain, fatigue/lack of energy, depression/isolation, problems with a couple’s sex life/relationships, an inability to conceive and difficulty in fulfilling work and social commitments. However, with the right endometriosis treatment, many of these issues can be addressed, and the symptoms of endometriosis made more manageable. It’s important to remember that: Endometriosis is not an infection, Endometriosis is not contagious, Endometriosis is not cancer.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects how a woman’s ovaries work. The 3 main features of PCOS are: irregular periods – which means your ovaries do not regularly release eggs (ovulation), excess androgen – high levels of “male” hormones in your body, which may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair, polycystic ovaries – your ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) that surround the eggs (but despite the name, you do not actually have cysts if you have PCOS) If you have at least 2 of these features, you may be diagnosed with PCOS.
We can treat most areas; please refer to our laser hair removal price list for all treatment areas available.
Laser hair removal can be an effective treatment for PCOS because it is a safe, minimally invasive procedure that permanently reduces unwanted body hair. It is also fast, efficient and cost effective, and can provide long lasting results. Additionally, it can reduce the risk of skin irritation and ingrown hairs and help reduce other symptoms of PCOS, such as acne and irregular menstrual cycles.
LaserHQ is one of the UK’s leading laser specialists; with the most experienced and knowledgeable staff combined with the latest technology, we are the experts in this field. We also have access to our own hormone specialist and can offer blood tests and further specialist advice. We are so passionate about helping people and providing life changing results that we raise awareness by carrying out regular campaigns to raise awareness of PCOS and unwanted facial hair.
