Hooded Eyes

Hooded eyes are when excess skin from the upper eyelid droops down over the crease, creating a “hood”. Although most of us have at least some degree of hooding on this part of the face, it can get quite extreme, to the point where it partially covers the upper eyelid. This creates a smaller visible gap, and that can make eyes appear smaller, or just make you look like you are constantly tired, even when you’re wide awake.

How does Laser help hooded eyes?

In severe cases, the most effective treatment is surgery, as this will permanently remove some of the tissue from the eyelid. This will reduce the appearance or droopiness, even though the skin itself will still have lost its elasticity. However, lasers can play supporting roles in eyelid rejuvenation. Laser resurfacing can tighten skin around the eyes by stimulating collagen production, for example. Also, some lasers can provide subtle tightening of the skin, although this would typically only help in very mild cases. Your doctor might not recommend surgery for health reasons unless the hooded eyes are affecting your vision. However, if you’re concerned about hooded eyes, why not pop in for a consultation?
