Laser Scar Relief
Scars are a natural part of your body’s healing process after it has been damaged or broken. That could be through injury, surgery, acne or some other cause. They can sometimes feel raised, discoloured or textured differently from surrounding skin. While they might fade over time, some will be permanent and can affect how you feel about your appearance, particularly if they’re in prominent areas. Each scar is unique, and how your skin scars depends on all sorts of factors – genetics, the depth of the wound and where it is on your body all play a part.
How does laser treatment help with scars?
At LaserHQ, we use laser treatment to help improve the appearance of various types of scarring. The laser breaks down damaged collagen fibres and stimulates new collagen growth, which promotes a smoother, more even skin texture. It can also help reduce redness, flatten raised scars and improve the overall colour and texture.
Treatment usually requires several sessions, and results develop gradually as your skin naturally heals and regenerates itself. It actually seems to work a lot better on older scars than new ones, with six months post-injury being a good time to start.
Should I book a consultation?
Because every case is different, your first step will be to come in for a consultation with our friendly team of experts. We’ll examine your scar, find out exactly how it formed, and explain what improvements are realistic for your situation. While we can significantly improve most scars’ appearance, you should know that complete removal isn’t always possible. Whatever the result of the consultation, we’ll always be open and honest about what we think can be achieved.
