This year we are working closely with the Endometriosis Foundation charity to help raise awareness for endometriosis.
The Endometriosis Foundation is founded Carla who herself suffered since she was 13 years old. She set up this charity to get Endometriosis recognised and understood. Carla actually went into parliament to discuss this matter and making it known more needs to be done. They are an none profitable charity who’s main goal is to help women and support them on this journey and how to better manage the symptoms that come with this condition. As sadly there is no cure.
As part of our #breakthetaboo campaign, and to mark the start of the joint venture, the team here at LaserHQ came up with a fun way for fundraising. The team have walked a combined total of 907km, covering the distance from Lands end to John O Groats which is one end of Britain to the other!
We have laced up our boots, wrapped up and braved the ever changing UK weather getting those steps in to achieve our goal. And boy did we do that!
We have collectively raised £490 smashing our original target goal and we did it in less time then we thought! We want to thank everyone who has donated and helped up raise money for this charity.
Endometriosis affects 1.5 Million women which is 1-10 women in the UK alone. Women with endometriosis can go undiagnosed for 8 years before getting a diagnose. This is due to the lack of funding around this area. And little knowledge about the condition itself with it being so hard to diagnose
The symptoms can also be similar to those of several other health conditions, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Acute Appendicitis or Crohn’s disease, often make it difficult for doctors to diagnose Endometriosis.
To make matters more challenging, many of these other conditions can also co-exist with Endometriosis.
There Is No Cure!
